Danielle Jackson Barker is a Connecticut State licensed acupuncturist and is nationally board certified as a Diplomate of Oriental medicine by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine). She earned her Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine (SIOM).  At SIOM, Danielle studied under master practitioners of both Japanese and Chinese styles of acupuncture.  There, she also engaged in the extensive study and practice of Chinese herbal medicine.  She has completed four levels of Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) with master practitioner and martial artist Tom Bisio.  During her time in Seattle, Danielle has had the opportunity to practice in diverse clinical settings including the Veterans Association in Puget Sound, Evergreen Treatment Services, and the Asian Counseling and Referral Services (ACRS).

Danielle’s goal is to help each patient achieve his or her own optimal health.  She believes that to achieve this, a person must be treated as a whole, including body, mind, and spirit.   Oriental medicine is wonderful because it is a system of medicine that does treat the whole being.  In a session with Danielle, treatment plans are individualized for each patient’s needs utilizing a personalized fusion of acupuncture, bodywork, herbal remedies, Chinese nutrition therapy, and lifestyle counseling.  Educating patients on lifestyle choices is of utmost importance to Danielle since she believes healing is a continuous process that happens inside and outside of the treatment room.  Danielle treats a wide array of acute and chronic health problems including musculoskeletal complaints, gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological issues, emotional disturbances, sleep disorders and more.
